 Did you really look at Roxanne? Did you look her in the eye? Granted, she has a great figure and in many of these photographs she's naked and the eye is automatically drawn to other parts of her body.
And yet.
You realise, of course, that this book marks a new departure. For a long time, the portrayal of the nude was a source of discomfort - only those artists who gave us classical representations of nymphs and Olympian goddesses seemed able to pull it off. These days few people would be scandalised by pictures of a naked body and we no longer need the pretext of mythology to reveal the naked form. The nude has now become acceptable, it is frequently in demand and the erotic has become an integral part of the everyday life of a society so keen to expose itself.

 L'hai vista in viso, Roxanne? L'hai guardata negli occhi? D'accordo, è fatta bene, e per di più in molte di queste foto è nuda: capisco che lo sguardo preferisca scrutare altre parti del corpo.
Però.
Questo libro è una faccenda del tutto nuova. Lo sai, no? Per tanto tempo mostrare le nudità è stata cosa del tutto sconveniente: soltanto le raffigurazioni - classiche e classicheggianti - di putti, ninfe e divinità dell'Olimpo potevano farlo. Adesso nessuno (quasi) si scandalizza più di fronte ad un corpo nudo, e non abbiamo bisogno di pretesti mitologici per godere della bellezza delle forme. Il nudo è accettato, spesso richiesto, e il concetto di erotismo diventa parte del discorrere quotidiano di questa nostra società tanto incline all'esibizionismo.
Poi arriva Gabriele Rigon: lui ci presenta Roxanne, e ci fa scoprire che oltre l'armonico disegnarsi di membra perfette c'è qualcos'altro.
