 PRESENTAZIONEI fenomeni di emigrazione piemontese nel mondo hanno un che di emozionante e struggente. Intendiamoci: la diaspora dei piemontesi è stata un'avventura epica non riducibile a fatti puramente emozionali. Tuttavia, ogni racconto ha in sé una specie di perenne basso continuo di gioie e dolori che sembra accompagnare anche le più asettiche e distaccate argomentazioni di fatti ed eventi impersonali. Il legame tra la madrepatria regionale e le comunità dei piemontesi emigrati all'estero è, oggi, quanto mai vivo e profondo. Questa stessa e altre pubblicazioni sul tema in parte lo confermano. La Regione Piemonte è orgogliosa di mantenere questo legame continuo, questo filo diretto che ci offre la possibilità non solo di capire l'evoluzione e i cambiamenti generazionali dei nostri emigrati antichi e recenti, ma anche, e soprattutto, di approfondire con senso pragmatico, le possibili strategie migliorative di gestione dei flussi migratori che l'Italia, assieme all'Europa, fatica a trovare. In Voices un messaggio è chiaro: chi emigra e sta molti anni, o tutta la vita all'estero - in questo caso negli U.S.A. - volente o nolente subisce dei condizionamenti economici, sociali e culturali che lo rendono necessariamente diverso da come sarebbe "cresciuto" se fosse rimasto in madrepatria, e nel suo paese o nella sua città d'origine. La grandezza meno visibile, ma più alta, degli Stati Uniti sta nel suo potere di attrazione e di amalgama di genti e popoli, religioni e culture diverse. Ebrei e mussulmani, ad esempio, lì convivono e spesso dialogano senza drammi, mentre in Medio Oriente i fuochi di guerra sembrano non finire mai. Le interviste che qui di seguito vengono pubblicate sono "voices" reali di storie reali. [..]  PRESENTATIONThe phenomena of Piedmontese migration around the world are soul stirring and tender. Let's be clear: the diaspora of the Piedmontese was an epic adventure not adequately explained by merely emotional facts. However, every story contains a sort of a continuous recurrent theme of joy and sorrow that seems to accompany even the most aseptic and detached arguments about neutral facts and events. Today the relationship between the regional native land and the community of Piedmontese abroad is quite deep and alive. This is confirmed, in part, by this and other publications on the subject. The Regione Piemonte is proud to keep this relationship going, this direct thread that offers us the opportunity not only to understand the evolution and generational changes of our old and new migrants, but also, and most of all, to deepen, pragmatically, the feasible ameliorative management strategies of migratory flows that Italy and Europe strive to find. In Voices the message is clear: whoever migrates and lives abroad for many years or for their entire life - in this case in the USA - undergoes economie, social and cultural conditionings that obviously make one different than if he or she grown up in the motherland, in the village or town of origin. The less visible but utmost greatness of the United States rests in its power to attract and integrate peoples, religions and different cultures. There, for example, Jews and Muslims live together and can hold a dialogue without drama while in the Middle East the warfare seems never-ending.
