Patricia Guy
worked as a television director in the United States for several years. Nevertheless, her professional career changed in 1982 when she participated in the Avize grape-harvest in Champagne. As a return, she returned to New York with new careers goals. She is a director of marketing and public relations for oenological compagnies and studied oenology, viticulture and wine-tasting in London, where she passed variedand rigorous professional exams. She won the International Vintners Scholarship in 1989 and the Wine Spectator Scholarship in 1992. In April 2000, she was elected Cavaliere del Sovrano e Nobilissimo Ordine dell'Antico Roccioto and, in 2001 she was received into the Imperial Castellana del Suavia. She currently lives in Verona and writes about wine, beverages and Italian restaurants for English and American magazines. Among her work, Patricia Guy counts a book on the wine and alcoholics drink trade in London in the nineteenth century, entitiled Bacchus at Baker Street, and the first book dedicated exclusively to Amarone: Amarone, Verona's Great White. She wrote the chapters referring to Italian wine in the book Wine Tours of the World , and hers in the essay on the cultural and vine-growing environment of Sherlock Holmes in the volume Sherlock Holmes Vintage and Spirited. Besides writing, she participates in wine-tasting sessions and sits on juries for internationals in London and in Italy, as well as frequently hosting wine-tasting courses. She is a long-time member of The Adventuresses of Sherlock Holmes and has the honor of being vice-president of Chievo F.C. Historical Centre Supporters Club.
